October Beauty Favorites: Perfecting Holiday Glam

mt october favesIn my personal opinion, October is what dreams are made of when it comes to beauty and fashion. Scarves, boots, vampy lip colors, and matte smoky eyes are some of my favorite things and they all come out to play during the month of October. Another beautiful thing about this month, is that October starts the party season for us at the Taylor house- potlucks, costume parties, game nights, and just making a conscious effort to enjoy friends and family just a little bit more. But just because this season brings more evening gatherings and events doesn’t mean that my full-time day schedule stops. (Even though I wish it did sometimes!)

You may notice a trend in my October favorites, and that theme is makeup and hair that stays on point from my ride into the office in the morning, through a potluck or party, and till I take my makeup off at night. Let’s get started!

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

I used the It Cosmetics concealer for a flawless under eye look

The first time I ever tried the It Cosmetics line was through my Ipsy subscription. While this brand doesn’t have the level of recognition of let’s say, Too Faced or Urban Decay, their products are solid. This particular concealer is creamy and a little thick, but can cover ANYTHING. I don’t have tattoos, but I have no doubt that it is so pigmented that it could easily cover a tat. I’ve been using this concealer recently for a full coverage look that lasts all day.

*I will say, it is important to set this concealer with powder as it gets a little oily throughout the day if you forget that step.

e.l.f. Blemish Control Primer

Nothing but e.l.f. Primer + bronzer on my face

I picked this primer up as merely a base to my Halloween makeup the day of my party when I was in a pinch just a few weeks ago. When seeing this primer in the e.l.f. side of the Walmart cosmetics aisle, I didn’t expect much. I was just hoping it would help the makeup from drying me out. But let me tell you- this product is a gem. It feels like liquid satin when it goes on, and it keeps my skin refreshed while letting my makeup sit evenly across my face. In the photo to the left, I used this primer and a bronzer to create a really natural look. The primer is so smooth, and blemish correcting, you don’t even really need foundation to create that flawless, dewy look.

Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1 Miracle Worker

After just a few pumps of Hawaiian Silky

I have really dry hair, and in the colder seasons my hair just gets even dryer. I need products that sit light on hair, protect from heat damage, and give my hair a healthy sheen, because my hair just doesn’t naturally have that shine. I found this product on sale at Walmart, and I was brought in by the fact that it’s a heat protectant, frizz control, shine boosting product all in one.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m always skeptical of products that claim to do too many things, but for the price, I was down to give it a try.

I put just a few pumps of this in my hair when it is damp from root to end with my fingers, and it has restored the shine to my hair in only about 3 weeks. I also apply a small amount just before I use a flat iron or curling iron to protect my strands from the heat.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray

Lastly, this product doesn’t require a big introduction. You’ve probably heard of it before, and that’s because it just works. You spray one to two pumps onto your freshly done makeup, and poof, you are set for the rest of your day. I’ve loved this product for about 5 years now. It is perfect for those holiday season parties where you are going straight from work to evening glam.

Thanks for checking out October’s beauty favorites! Stay tuned for another travel blog, some travel planning tips, and my favorite party glam looks. As always, Sweet Dreams and Happy Travels, lovelies!
